JB - Technical Analysis Evaluation

I analysed the music video The Middle by Jimmy Eat World. I found that many of the shots used were close ups and mid shots. The majority of close ups were used when showing the lead singer singing and the guitarist and other band members performing. This is probably used to show realism in their video. There were plenty of mid shots, this is probably because of the small location and so that they couls show everything that was needed in the video.

They seemed to have used plenty of handicam shots but these shots seemed to be very controlled. They were slightly shakey but this was not very noticeable. A lot of the shots seemed to be from side on angles. This was so that the performers could be shot, but also the crowd can be shown in the shots having a good time in the background. A lot of tracking shots were used following characters throughout the video. This adds a sense of realism to the video because it shows the characters moving and looks like someone is following them.
