JL Audience Research

For our audience research we have decided that we are going to use a questionnaire. We chose not use a focus group because we want to get a broader range of answers. When using focus groups we will have 5 of our friends together discussing ideas about the video but it could be difficult getting all of our friends at the same place at the same time outside of school hours. Using 5 friends would also skew the results. Our friends have similar interests so using a questionnaire and distributing it over the internet will overcome this problems and we will have a broader range of answers. A disadvantage of using a questionnaire online would be that people who do not like this genre of music may answer the questionnaire with more bias towards the genre of music they prefer. People may not be able to give full detail and elaborate on what they think which is a disadvantage of using a questionnaire.



On the other hand, by posting on powerpop forums we are able to get to our target audience quickly from around the world and get a fairly large response.



Our questionnaire will ask our audience what they expect to see in the music video. We will include a link to the track and ask what colours and themes they visualise from first listening. We will ask questions about what location they think we should use and the type of clothing the band /actors should be wearing. We will also ask questions about what season they visualise this song in, e.g if they think the track fits in with the theme of summer or winter.
